Notifications: How to Set Up and Manage Tapo & Kasa Alerts in the Tapo App
The Tapo notifications feature gives you control over which alerts you receive on your phone from Tapo and Kasa smart devices. This page covers two areas: general notification settings that apply to all connected smart devices, and specific push notification setup for Tapo and Kasa cameras/doorbells.
Key Takeaways
- Tapo notification settings are managed in the Tapo app under Me > Notifications, where you can control alerts for all connected smart devices.
- The Do Not Disturb feature lets you schedule quiet hours, with the option to add device exceptions for critical alerts, such as water-leak or doorbell-theft notifications.
- For Tapo and Kasa cameras/doorbells, Tapo push notifications must be enabled at two levels: the account level (Device Notifications > Management) and the individual device level (Device Settings > Notifications).
- Tapo notification sound settings are managed through your phone's system settings, not within the app. The path differs between Android and iPhone.

Part 2: Camera/Doorbell Notification Settings
If you want to receive push notifications on your phone when the Tapo & Kasa Cameras/doorbells detect events, follow the steps below to set up the Notification feature in the Tapo app.
The steps below use the Tapo C200 as an example. Steps may vary slightly for other models.
Step 1. On the Tapo app > Me > Notifications page, go to Device Notifications > Management to ensure the switch is enabled for your camera. Turn off the Do Not Disturb feature or add your camera to the Exceptions page.
Note: The location of the Me button may vary depending on the app version. It is located either in the bottom-right or top-left corner of the app.

Step 2. On the Home page of the Tapo app, tap your camera model card, or go to the Cameras tab and tap Manage on your camera model to go to the Live View page.

Step 3. On the Live View page, tap the icon in the top right corner to enter the Device Settings page.

Step 4. Click on Notifications on the Device Settings page.

Step 5. Enable Activity Notifications and Rich Notifications as desired.
Tap Activity Type to select the detection types for which you want to receive push notifications.
Note: Some camera models do not currently support the Activity Type feature, and you will receive all types of notifications when the camera detects events.

If you select Custom Time, you can customize the time period for receiving push notifications as you prefer.
