Set Up Your Doorbell
Follow the steps below to get started with your new doorbell.
Step 1. Download Tapo App
Get the Tapo app from the App Store or Google Play, or by scanning the QR code below.

Step 2. Log In
Open the app, and log in with your TP-Link ID. If you don't have an account, create one first.
Step 3. Add Your Doorbell
Tap the + button in the app and search for your model. Follow app instructions to set up your doorbell.

Install a microSD Card
Follow the steps below to install the microSD card for local recording.
You can go to the Settings page in the Tapo app to check the card status or format your card.
1. Open the silicone cover on the back of the doorbell.
2. Identify the direction of the microSD card and carefully insert the card into the slot. Push in the card until you hear a clicking sound.

Determine Power Options
When you finish adding your doorbell to the Tapo app, you can mount it on a wall or stick it to a smooth wall.
Option A: Battery-Powered
If you don’t have existing doorbell wiring at the door, use the built-in battery. When the doorbell battery level is low, you need to detach and charge it.
For installation, skip Install Jumper Wire for Your Existing Chime and Remove Existing Doorbell, then choose either installation option to install your doorbell without existing wires.
Option B: Hardwired
WARNING: Risk of Electric Shocks
• Your existing doorbell must be wired (not battery powered) and supplied by an 8-24V AC, 10VA minimum transformer.
• Ensure that your existing doorbell works by ringing the doorbell.
• Locate your existing doorbell chime.
• Disconnect power at the fuse or circuit breaker before installing.
• You can always find detailed wiring and installation instructions on the Tapo app.

You can choose whether to enable Always-On Mode, which supports 24/7 recording. Note: When mounting to uneven walls, stick the foam pad on the back of the wedge.
Mode 1: Always-On Mode
Hardwired for high current power supply, enabling 24/7 recording. The existing chime cannot be used in this mode. For installation, follow instructions below to bypass your existing chime first and install your doorbell.
Mode 2: Charging Mode
Hardwired for low current charging only. The existing chime can still be used. For installation, skip Install Jumper Wire for Your Existing Chime and then install your doorbell.
Install Jumper Wire for Your Existing Chime
This step is only necessary when hardwiring the doorbell and enabling Always-On Mode.
1. Turn off the circuit breaker. Make sure the power is off by ringing your doorbell a few times.

2. Remove the chime cover and take a photo of the wiring in case you want to reconnect it.

3. Slightly loosen the screws for the Front and Trans of your front doorbell or the Rear and Trans of your rear doorbell, then insert the included jumper wire.

4. Tighten the screws and replace the chime cover. If you want to use the existing chime when Always-On Mode is disabled, please remove the jumper wire.
(Optional) Choose Mounting Wedge
Select the mounting wedge to adjust the viewing angle of the doorbell.

Remove Existing Doorbell
1. If your existing doorbell is hardwired, first turn off the circuit breaker. Make sure the power is off by ringing your doorbell a few times.

2. Remove your existing doorbell from its mounting surface. Then disconnect the wires.

Mount Your Doorbell
When you finish adding your doorbell to the Tapo app, you can mount it on a wall or stick it to a smooth wall.
Option 1: Stick to a smooth wall
1. Attach the included adhesive to the back of the bracket or the wedge you have selected. If you use the wedge, affix the bracket and the wedge with the mounting wedge screws first.
Note: The adhesive is for one-time use. Avoid re-using the adhesive to ensure its adhesion.

2. Route the wires through the bracket (if there are existing wires). Wipe the surface with a dry cloth, stick the bracket (or bracket and wedge) to a smooth wall, press for 15 seconds to ensure it’s firmly attached.
Note: This is applicable with tile, glass, marble, metal, stainless steel, and smooth wall surfaces.

3. For battery-powered option, skip this step and jump to step 4.
For hardwired option, connect the wires to the doorbell and tighten the terminal screws.
Note: If the wires are too short, use the included extension wires and wire nuts to make them longer.

4. Attach the doorbell to the bracket, sliding down to the bottom until snug. Tighten the screw at the bottom to secure the doorbell. Turn on the circuit breaker if necessary.

Option 2: Mount to the wall
1. Route the wires (if there are existing wires) through the mounting template sticker and apply the sticker. Drill two holes where indicated.

2. Insert two anchors into the holes. Route the wires (if there are existing wires) through the bracket and use the screws to affix the bracket over the anchors.
Note: When mounting to uneven walls, stick the foam pad on the back of the bracket or wedge (if used).

Note: If you have trouble attaching the doorbell to the bracket or it causes false anti-theft alarms, check if you tightened the screws too much that the bracket bent. Adjust the depth of the screw and then reinstall the doorbell.

Reset Your Doorbell
Follow the steps below to reset your doorbell via the SYNC/Reset button.
You can also go to the doorbell's Settings page in the Tapo app and tap Remove Device at the bottom to factory reset your doorbell.
Press and hold the RESET button for 5 seconds to reset the doorbell.
